no pain, no gain.

today was quite the day in this rodriguez household, especially for one of our little lions. i'm sure i will write more on my two ginormous maine coon cats, brothers, franklin & winston, but for now, winston's adventurous day at the georgetown vet receives the limelight.

it all started 2 weeks ago when stephen took the pair in for their annual check-up. franklin has always been the porker, devouring his food like a construction grapple, jaws open wide, plunging into his bowl of royal canin. winston on the other hand has always eaten like a bird, picking up morsel by morsel and popping them into his mouth. surprise, surprise, frankie tops dubs by a full 5 lbs.

so anyway, back to the check-up. dr.morgan notices some of winston's baby teeth were never properly displaced as he grew but instead due to their alignment, dig straight into his lower gums every time he closes his mouth. my poor baby had been suffering with these open sores all this time! ouch! so we quickly booked winston's dental surgery to remove the offending fangs....and that day was today.

with anticipation i packed winston in his dog-sized kitty carrier and hauled his skinny 16 lb fluff-butt to the vet at 8am this morning. at 4pm, i returned to find him 2 teeth less, among other things. my sweetpea had been through the ringer. his normally wide eyed self had been reduced to a red-rimmed, fur-mangled, arm-shaved, bloody-mouthed tabby, a far cry from his usual majesty. oh how well anesthesia looks on all.

well, after 7 hours at home, being reunited with his long lost brother and his special bowl of gourmet whiskas, winston is returning to his senses...and his love of food. no pain, no gain :)
